Not keeping up with kelly but it's still really good for me. In 4 months 24 books done, so I am definitely ahead of the 1 book per week goal. I just finished The 4th Summer of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. It's been 2 years since I read the first 3. It has taken that long for my library to get through the queue of requests. It was addicting per usual. Had to find out what happened. So I read it in about 2 days. Now it's on to Marian Keyes' Anybody out There (the other book it took over a year to get from the library.
ESCAPE.....I can avoid the mundane, frustrations of everyday life. I can be a different person. Live in a different state. Travel. Experience a different career. Fall in love all over again.
FRIEND....I have a problem getting attached to characters. Which is why I love series. I have a terrible time letting go of characters I like. I wanna know what happens next and next and next. I'd like to call them up and find out what's happening now. Does that mean I blur the line of reality and fiction when I escape? Probably.....
COMFORT....like a warm blankie. Reading a story I love can relax me like nothing else. I feel like I can't go to sleep at night unless I read a few pages. Even when I am so tired I can't make it more than a couple of sentences. If I am going somewhere I have to take a book with me. Even if I know I won't have time to read it. It's definitely like a security blanket.
WINDOW ON THE WORLD....I learn so much. New vocabulary, geography, careers, hobbies,
CONNECTION TO MY KIDS.....I love that they both adore books. It's such a prize at the end of the day to cuddle and read to/with them. Now Luke is starting to read unfamiliar books. It's fascinating and exciting to watch.
HOBBY....there's nothing I enjoy more when I have down time. Who am I kidding? I MAKE time to read.....if I waited till I had time I'd never do it. I pretty much avoid things I don't want to do so I can read.
ROLLER COASTER.....I get so involved I feel the ups and downs of the story. A really good book can move me to tears....or laughter.
It's really cool! Super easy to add books to your shelf.
