My conference last weekend on Memory/Cognition was very interesting. One of the items I learned about that was new to me was the "mirror neuron" concept. I haven't been to real conferences since before I had kids so it was kind of a catch up time for me. Anyway, these mirror neurons have been identified in humans and basically shows that the same kind of neuronal activation is present when someone DOES an activity or just watches it happen to someone else. This is profound when you think about learning. It really does have clinical implications for those of us in rehab or teaching.
Here's some more info in case you're bored and find this stuff interesting. Mirror Neurons
One of the other exciting discoveries the professor told us about was that they've discovered some way to cross the blood-brain barrier during a test to determine Alzheimer's Disease very early. I Love all this brain stuff!
