#1. My children WILL go to sleep. SOMETIME?!?!?!?! Sooner the better but it's 9:25 and they've been wild and loud. My niece is here too so that's probably why. They are all 3 on aero bed here in living room with me. Anyone know a sleep inducing spell I can wish on them?
#2. I realized one of the good things about my new job. NO WORK AT HOME. When I am at work I work and when I am at home - I'm HOME! No reports on puter at home, no emails to keep up with. It makes the days when I am without personal email and board all worthwhile. :)
#3. I am thankful my children are generally well behaved in public. They got haircuts this afternoon and were like angels sitting in the chair, holding still. Of course they make up for it at times at home! LOL
1 Week at the new job. It's been tiring. Learning all the acute care stuff is a challenge and LOTS of walking (very good for me) since it's 2 hospitals connected by a skywalk. It basically takes up about 9 city block I would estimate between all the buildings that are connected together. It's been exciting, fun, challenging. The people I work with are GREAT! Hilarious, smart, friendly. The SLPs and the other disciplines (PT, OT, etc.). The outpatient site where I will be full time when I am done orienting is cool too. Going to be a challenge with some of the clients that I will see because I haven't done stuff like that in a LONG time. My friend Julie starts there this next week so that will make it more comfortable because I am used to working with her. However, the BEST part of the whole week is looking at my gas tank. We filled up last Sunday. On Friday I looked at it and the guage had BARELY MOVED off of Full!!!!!!
So I didn't work (as in work work AT work) much this week. I think I was there all day Mon. and Wed. but only worked 2 hours each afternoon on Tues. and Thurs. Now I wish it was for a more fun reason than sick kids but STILL - I really didn't miss that place! And I got my house clean, laundry done, plus lots of game playing and cuddling. I've come to the conclusion I really wouldn't mind staying home. If we could afford it that is. Unfortunately my PTO time WILL run out eventually LOL. I do love my job and most of my clients. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE supervising the graduate students. But either I need a break from the 9-5 or I need a change. Since the not working option is NOT an option financially, I am going to try for a change. I am applying to the school districts. The schedule will allow me more time for my family and the more I think about it the more I am excited. So wish me luck and if you hear of any school SLP jobs here - CALL ME!
